"It is our Slavic aspiration toward justice which is close to Serbs too. In this case, we believe that Serbia's right to decide on the fate of a part of its sovereign territory is just and our stance really will not change in this sense," he told daily press.

"Many people have lately been asking about Russia's stance on the Brussels agreement on Kosovo. We believe that UN Security Council Resolution 1244 remains the international and legal base for regulation of Kosovo. The recognition of Kosovo is out of the question. We hope that the Serbian leadership is fully aware of its historic responsibility. It is important here that Serbs reach a consensus and there are certain mechanisms for that. Do we need to rush things here? I think that a decision made under the foreign pressure and without a visible consensus among Serbs would bring great problems in the future," Chepurin explained.
