Tadic: Serbia will do everything it can to solve the Kosovo problem
Serbian president Boris Tadic said that he "cannot imagine" a situation in the future where Serbia would have to recognize Kosovo in order to join the EU.

"Serbia will do everything it can before the date of its entrance into the EU to take care of all conflicts in the region and solve the Kosovo problem. Serbia does not want a lasting conflict that would sooner or later endanger our national and civilian interests," Tadic told Belgrade weekly Vreme.
He said that he believes that an atmosphere will be created in the future for finding a compromise solution that will rid the entire region of the historical conflict in Kosovo.
"The Kosovo problem demands a solution, but the solution cannot be for the issue to bee swept under the carpet, because some countries recognized Kosovo, turning a blind eye to the violation of international law and telling Serbia to accept the reality on the ground."
Such logic makes, Tadic continues, brings the international factors in a situation where they have to accept the reality that Serbs in Kosovo "do not want to accept the sovereignty of the so-called state of Kosovo on the entire territory", he concluded.
