Dacic: No talk of Kosovo status in Brussels

Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic stated that Kosovo's status will not be a topic of his talks with Kosovo Prime Minister Hasim Taci in Brussels on Wednesday, and once more denied the information that Pristina and Belgrade will open liaison offices.

In an interview for Presheva Jone made during his stay in Rome, Dacic said that he expects the new meeting with Taci to serve as an encouragement for the negotiations.

He added that the forthcoming meeting in Brussels is a good move for the region and that it constitutes a contribution to the improvement of relations between Serbs and Albanians.
"We will not renounce our stands on non-recognition of Kosovo although the government will maintain a constructive stand in the spirit of the best possible cooperation for the citizens' benefit," the prime minister said.

Dacic confirmed that there were ideas and propositions to open liaison offices of Belgrade and Pristina, but he denied that this will be carried out.

He noted that interpretations of the offices' character as representative offices or embassies are wrong and explained that individuals in charge of the implementation of reached agreements will be appointed soon.

The continuation of the dialogue between representatives of the Serbian government and interim government in the southern Serbian province was agreed on during the meeting between Dacic and Taci in Brussels on October 19, and it will be carried out with the EU as the mediator.
