Nikolic, Patriarch discuss KiM issue, ICTY rulings

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic underscored on Friday, during the talks with Patriarch Irinej of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC), that the government is open for active participation of the SPC in resolving Serbia's key problems in the southern province.

In the Serbian presidency building, Nikolic met with Metropolitan Amfilohije Radovic of the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral and Bishop of Backa Irinej, the president's press service stated.

SPC representatives expressed deep concern over the situation in Kosovo and the decision of the International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia to acquit Ramus Haradinaj, Ante Gotovina and Mladen Markac, the release states.

Nikolic met with the head of the SPC on June 4, and after the Friday meeting, he said that he asked the patriarch for a blessing and advice about what steps should be taken in the times of hardships.
