The donation was collected by students of a dozen of Lyon-based schools, said the humanitarian association Solidarity for Kosovo, which has an office in Gracanica. Solidarity for Kosovo comprises over 6,000 donors from across France, and around 30 volunteers who partake in the operation of this organization. During 2012, the organization provided six convoys of humanitarian help, a summer holiday in Montenegro for 40 Serb children from Kosovo-Metohija and reconstruction of the primary school Bora Stankovic in the village of Straza, near Gjilane. The founder of this organization, Arnaud Gouillon, was decorated with the Medal of St. Stefan of Decani last year, and presented with a special plaque “The most generous act of the year” by the Belgrade-based daily Vecernje Novosti late in December 2012.
