According to those claims, officials in Pristina sent a letter to EU High Representative Catherine Ashton and ambassadors of the Quint countries requesting that EULEX leave Kosovo by December 31. EULEX will not leave Kosovo by the end of 2013, the mission told the press, adding that its mandate ends in June 2014. "The institutions formed by Pristina have low capabilities and do not provide sufficient guarantees to the Serbs and other non-Albanians. They cannot cope with their problems and guarantee safety. If EULEX left, UNMIK's presence would inevitably increase," Drecun told the newspaper, adding that UNMIK followed UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and people trusted it more.
