According to a release from UNMIK, Zarif called for continued calm in the aftermath of this incident, reiterating that such misguided behavior by some individuals should not be permitted to inflame wider tension."Peaceful expression of views and dialogue remain the only acceptable way to tackle the issues at hand, and local dialogue must not only continue but be intensified in the coming days," Zarif said.
He said "inflammatory and provocative statements should be avoided by all sides in order to help maintain an atmosphere conducive to the successful resumption and continuation of the Brussels dialogue."Several people were injured and a number of cars set on fire in violence that broke out during a protest by ethnic Albanians on the southern side of the main bridge in Kosovska Mitrovica on Sunday. The Albanians protested over a peace park on the bridge on the Ibar River that connects the Albanian and Serb parts of the city. The peace park has been put in the place of a barricade on the bridge that was removed on June 18.
