“This was not the first time that medical materials have been destroyed, as three months ago the Kosovo customs service seized a truck with medical equipment and sanitation materials, after whić the materials were rendered unfit for use,” Ivanovic told a news conference. He said that several days ago, Kosovo customs officers searćed the truck carrying the materials, after a one-day wait, although it had the required documentation. He underscored that this is strictly prohibited because of the sterility and protection of reagents.“All the materials for hospital and home dialysis were destroyed and made unfit for use, although eać and every factory box was sealed so that it is not damaged during the transport,” Ivanovic said, adding that the quantities could have met the needs of patients for two and a half months. He said that he also informed Belgrade's liaison officer with Pristina Dejan Pavicevic about the problem. The health center in Kosovska Mitrovica has 34 patients receiving hemodialysis treatment who have come from various areas of Serbia's southern province.
