The parliament will assist and coordinate Serb local self-governments in the province with its "political power", but it will have no legislative or executive authority.

At its constituent session on Saturday, the parliament will reject Kosovo's independence and the Kosovo constitution.

Serbian minister for Kosovo Slobodan Samardzic will attend the session, which is organized on the day of the 619th anniversary of the 1389 Kosovo battle - Vidovdan (St. Vitus Day), one of the most important dates in Serbian history.

"The UN mission and Kosovo institutions must accept reality," Kosovo Serb leader Milan Ivanovic.

"The parliament will have credibility and legitimacy based on the votes of two-thirds of Serbs in peaceful and democratic elections," he said.
