Macedonia would not mind Serbia's involvement in the process of demarcation of its border with Kosovo, provided it reaches agreement on its participation with UNMIK and Kosovo authorities, Macedonian Foreign Ministry said in response to Serbia's protest note against the start of demarcation of Macedonia's northern border in the section bordering on Kosovo.

The ministry said that Macedonia has done nothing contrary to the border agreement signed in 2001 with the then Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.

The demarcation process started at the Macedonia, Serbia (Kosovo) and Albania three-border junction point at Serupa on Sar Mountain in the presence of delegations from Macedonia, Albania and Kosovo and of international officials.

Serbia presented on July 3 to the Macedonian Ambassador to Belgrade Aleksandar Vasilevski a strong protest against the continuing activities which violate the  2001 border agreement.

Serbian Foreign Ministry had said that by starting the demarcation of its border with Serbia in the section of Serbia's province of Kosovo and by cooperating to that effect with unauthorized bodies in Pristina, Macedonia had demonstrated its disrespect of Serbia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
