Zannier: Serb representatives elected on May 11 are part of the solution

UNMIK Chief Lamberto Zannier has announced that he will meet with political representatives of Kosovo Serbs elected in the Serbian elections on May 11, and underlined that he wants to speak with all those who can help toward the resolving of the problems in Kosovo.

"I do not want to discuss with parallel structures just because they are parallel. They should not be called parallel", Zannier said.

"It comes out that the parallel structures and the parallel representatives can help us resolve problems", he said.

The Pristina Albanian-language daily Koha ditore said Zannier is preparing an offer that would result in the forming of an ethnic Serb police within the Kosovo police, but with special autonomy in the chain of command.

Furthermore, the customs service in Kosovo will perhaps be modelled according to that of Hong Kong, as a single territory with two customs zones.

Zannier said he proposes a similar solution for the judiciary as well.
