Report: Pristina warns Unmik chief it could become “persona non grata”

The ethnic Albanian Kosovo government in Pristina has warned Unmik head Lamberto Zannier that he could be declared a persona non grata in Kosovo if he continues with claims that "do not correspond with reality," the Pristina daily Kosova Sot said on Tuesday.

Such a strict stand towards an international administrator, the first such stand since the UN started to administrate Kosovo nine years ago, followed Zannier's announcement that he was preparing a proposal under which Serb police officers would be within Kosovo police, but with autonomy within the command chain and introduction of a dual system for the customs and courts in Serb environments.

Ranking Unmik officials, however, said that Zannier had been misinterpreted.

Pristina press said Martti Ahtisaari plan remained the "only defence from the initatives of Unmik head Zannier for negotiations with Belgrade."
