Abramovitz, Ceku warn about slow recognition rate of Kosovo
Former United States diplomat and advisor to the Kosovo Albanians during the conflict with Belgrade, Morton Abramovitz, said on Tuesday that Kosovo institutions did not do a proper job regarding the recognition of Kosovo.

"The West and Kosovo did not do their job in order to increase the number of countries that recognize the independence of Kosovo", Abramovitz said.
He said Pristina particularly failed to mobilize Muslim countries.
Pristina did not make the effort "because they believed the further recognition of Kosovo would depend rather on the efforts of the United States of America and the European Union", the former US diplomat said.
His views were echoed in Pristina by the former Prime Minister of Kosovo and President of the Social-Democratic Party of Kosovo Agim Ceku.
"In February, 21 country recognized us, in March 14, in April seven, while only one country did it in May and June. This worries us," said Ceku, who was also one of the members of the former negotiation team of Kosovo.
He believes that the indifference of institutions and top-ranking officials in Pristina who say that there will be new recognitions raises even more concern, because just the opposite is happening in practice.
In an interview with Pristina daily Express, Ceku said that "we are now witnessing an authoritarian democracy which the ruling Democratic party of Kosovo wants to establish."
