Colombia and Belize recognize Kosovo’s secession
Colombia and Belize have announced that they have officially recognized Kosovo’s secession, bringing the number of countries to do so to 45 out of 192 UN members.

"Having examined, with the above confirmation by UN envoy, that Kosovo "is a special case that requires a special solution and does not create any precedent for solving conflict," the foreign minister of Columbia declares that "it recognizes the Republic of Kosovo as a sovereign and independent state with which it intends to establish diplomatic ties".
The Government of Belize said in its statement that it "understands that all efforts were tried to achieve a negotiated solutions and the declaration of independence by the people of Kosovo, through its government, represents the aspiration of Kosovar citizens".
Most of the Latin American states - including Brazil, Argentina and Venezuela - are strong opponents of Kosovo's secession.
