Belgrade expects an agreement with UN in September or October

Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic said on Wednesday he expected in September or October an agreement with the UN on the civilian presence in Kosovo.

"I believe there is a realistic chance that until September or October we achieve, directly with the UN Secretariat, an agreement regarding the civilian presence in Kosovo, which would be explicitly confirmed by a corresponding decision of the Security Council", Jeremic said.

"It would specify in detail the composition, as well as mandate, of the international civilian presence, which would also imply a participation of the EU under the UN auspices, all in scope of Resolution 1244, but would not impinge upon Serbia's sovereignty or have the jurisdiction of implementing the Martti Ahtisaari plan. We have already launched negotiations to that effect," he underlined.
