Tadic: We still lack majority, but we have a chance
Serbian President Boris Tadic has said that Serbia has still not secured a majority at the UN Security Council for the adoption of the resolution that would seek an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on the legality of Kosovo's unilateral independence declaration, but expressed belief, however, that there is still a chance for a positive outcome of the voting.

"We have not yet secured a majority, but I do believe that we have a chance to secure it by the end of the session of the UN General Assembly," Tadic said.
President Tadic underlined that while in New York, he and Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic would have about 50 bilateral meetings, either separate or joint, with world statesmen, which might be decisive for ensuring a majority support for Serbia's initiative at the UN General Assembly.
According to him, a number of countries that have recognized Kosovo independence share an unjustified fear that the adoption of Serbia's resolution and a subsequent positive decision of the International Court of Justice might destabilize the Balkan region once again.
"Our intention is not a destabilisation of the region, but rather a transfer of our fight from the dominant political terrain onto the terrain of law, and our intention is that after this a compromise be found in dialogue, in peaceful and rational talks that would lead to a Kosovo compromise," Tadic explained.
