"We believe that the attempts of the European Union to enter Kosovo are not legitimate. Such decisions should be made in keeping with international law and, before all, UN Security Council Resolution 1244. To that end, UNMIK is obliged to carry out all functions assumed under the orders of the Security Council," Konuzin said.

He met in Pristina today with the UNMIK chief and Kfor commander, with whom he discussed the security situation in the Province.

Ambassador Konuzin underscored that Russia's stand remains unchanged and that Moscow will continue to support Serbia in its intent to prevent a "forceful break of the country."

"It is unacceptable in the 21st century to implement a policy that was implemented during the Munich agreement," said the ambassador, adding that "Russia will invest efforts, together with Serbia, to get to a legal regulation of the Kosovo crisis."

Ambassador Konuzin said that he arrived in central Kosovo to see the situation for himself, because "Russia is not satisfied with what is happening in Kosovo."
