Six Kosovo Serbs displaced from the Dvorane village in Suva Reka municipality were prevented from visiting their former homes by unidentified persons who opened fire on them from a nearby wood as they were lighting candles in the local cemetery, Kosovo Police Service spokesman Veton Elshani said

The incident occurred at about 10:30 am as the Serbs were visiting the cemetery escorted by police and UNHCR officials, he said.

No one was injured, but the Serbs felt it was unsafe to proceed to the village and inspect their homes, he said.

The escort was provided by 25 KPS officers, Elshani noted.

Serbian Minister for Kosovo Goran Bogdanovic strongly condemned the incident.

"The goal of the attack is to prevent the return of displaced Serbs to Kosovo", Bogdanovic said.
