Fifa rejects Kosovo membership application
The executive committee of the world’s football association Fifa has rejected an affiliation application by the Kosovo football association, saying that it failed to comply with an article of the Fifa statutes that says that only “an independent state recognised by the international community” may be admitted

Kosovo is not a UN member and its unilateral secession was recognized by 51 out of 192 UN member states.
Fifa furthermore ruled that the Kosovo Albanian team could not play friendly matches.
Pristina's team had played friendly matches against a few national football teams in the past: Albania , Monaco , Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
