"All signatures have already been collected in Velika Hoca and Orahovac. The signing of the petition met with a great approval of the local inhabitants," Nicic told a news conference in Kosovska Mitrovica.

"We will be collecting the signatures for two more weeks, and then we will send the copies to Serbian President Boris Tadic, Serbian parliament speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic, the Russian Embassy in Belgrade and the UN," he explained.

Nicic announced that next week, petition signatures would also be collected in Kraljevo, Jagodina and all the other places in Serbia and Montenegro in which the displaced people from Kosovo live.

Vice President of the Association of Kosovo Municipalities Marko Jaksic underlined that the acceptance of EULEX "would mean a recognition of independent Kosovo" and underlined that "Serbia must not be a subject of bargaining".
