Surroi: Pristina rejected the UN plan too late

Pristina publicist Veton Surroi said on Thursday that the "Kosovo leadership was wrong" not to reject immediately the "basis" for negotiations on six items within the plan for the reconfiguration of the international presence in Kosovo and added that the decision on rejecting this proposal had come too late

In an interview for the Albanian-language broadcast of the Voice of America, Surroi said that Kosovo institutions had not completely rejected all six items of the Ban Ki-moon's agreement "but only some elements of these items."

"This stand has come too late. The basis for these talks should have been rejected and the basis brought the six items proposed by the UN secretary-general in June this year," Surroi said and accused the government for the lack of transparency which "caused public concern."

He said that "one should bear in mind the fact that these talks cannot give a good result for Kosovo in the form in which they started," and that the "form or absence of transparency in this process in the wider sense in the past five months caused a lot of concern among the ordinary people in Kosovo."
