"You may rest assured that Russia, which is oriented towards Belgrade's stand, will back the solution on Eulex that the Serbian government suggests," Russian Ambassador Alexander Konuzin said.

British Ambassador to Serbia Stephen Wordsworth said London backed the six-item plan on the reconfiguration of UNMIK and the deployment of EULEX in Kosovo, and expressed belief that agreement would be reached on the issue next week.

"We have fully agreed to all the points we have made so far...but we want to see this whole process agreed in a way which all sides can accept to make it possible for EULEX then to deploy across the whole territory, with the support of all the parties concerned," Wordsworth told journalists.

According to him, British official will encourage Pristina to accept the plan of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon during the current three-day visit of Kosovo President and Prime Minister, Fatmir Sejdiu and Hasim Thaci, respectively.

"They know perfectly well that we want this package agreed and we want the whole thing approved by the UN Security Council, and we hope that will happen very quickly," Wordsworth said.

US Ambassador to Belgrade Cameron Munter said on Thursday that Washington backed the six-item plan on the reconfiguration of the international civil mission in Kosovo and that he was optimistic about the possibility that a solution will be found to the issue at the UN.

"We back the six-item plan and I am optimistic that a solution will be found", Munter said.
