The Security Council adopted a presidential statement welcoming the report, taking into account the different stands of Belgrade and Pristina, and welcoming their intention to cooperate with the international community.
"The Security Council welcomed also the cooperation between the UN and other international participants within UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and the efforts of the EU to promote the European prospects of the entire western Balkans and thus provide crucial impetus to the regional stability and prosperity", said the presidential statement.
The decision enables the deployment of Eulex in Kosovo.
Unmik chief Lamberto Zannier said the decision would allow "Unmik to adapt to new realities in the province and to work with Eulex".
During the session, the ambassadors of the member countries of the UNSC called on the implementation of the provisions of Ban's proposals.
Russia's repsenentative however warned about the possibility of Pristina sabotaging Ban's six-point plan.
He said Moscow "has information" about this intention and urged the international community to pressure Pristina into accepting the modalities of the UN plan.
"I have listened to (Kosovo Foreign Minister Skender) Hiseni and I must say that our position remains unchanged and constant", Moscow's envoy said.
"Resolution 1244 is in force in all of its parts and Unmik must continue carrying its duties, in particular in reference to the protection of minorities", he said.
China's representative said Unmik's reconfiguration is a "technical matter and is not connected with the Kosovo status".
Beijing reiterated its position on Kosovo and called on a mutually-acceptable solution to its status through negotiations.
Indonesia said that "without resolving the status of Kosovo, it is hard to imagine a definitive calming down of the situtation in the field".
"We welcome Serbia's efforts to resolve the issue through legal, diplomatic and peaceful means. We want all sides to engage in finding a solution which could be acceptable to all", Djakarta's representative said.
Vietnam's representative said Eulex should be status neutral and should be acting within Resolution 1244, while the solution for Kosovo's status must be acceptable to both sides and be found within the UN Security Council.
London and Washington supported the reconfiguration, but reiterated their support to Kosovo's independence.
"We call on the governments of Serbia and Kosovo to allow Eulex deployment in the entire territory of Kosovo withou delay", the US representative said.
