Bogdanovic: Eulex must implement six-point plan

"Already from December 9, EULEX members will probably be in their envisaged positions, and they will replace UNMIK in the north of the province as well, but I believe that the activities in the field, work in environments with Serb populations, will probably begin much later. At least not before they secure the confidence of the Serb population," Bogdanovic said.

The EULEX mission must be status neutral until a new dialogue is opened on the subject of the status of Kosovo, the minister for Kosovo said.

"The question of status is open, and, until a compromise solution is found, the rule of law must be introduced in the province and living conditions must be created, primarily, for the threatened Serbian and non-Albanian residents," Bogdanovic said.

The EU mission, "provided it really wants to carry out its obligations, must play the key role in the resolving of the questions of the judiciary and the police," he said.

Bogdanovic expects of the EU mission also to protect the security of persons and property, the cultural and religious heritage, to provide the safety of transportation and traffic, and to secure the functioning of the customs system, the minister specified.
