Kosovo Serbs reject stamps in judicial institutions

The Serb National Council of Kosovo has stated that Kosovo institutions are continuously imposing pressure on judicial departments in Serb-populated communities to stop using the principle of work under UNMIK rules, as they have done so far, and to adopt a set of rules under the Constitution of Kosovo

The SNV most strongly condemned "unlawful and brutal imposition of provisional institutions," underscoring that such an approach "by Albanian institutions is absolutely unacceptable for the Serbs in the province, particularly in view of the fact that demands had been made to replace the valid UNMIK stamps with news ones, with the insignia of the self-proclaimed state of Kosovo.

The SNV also underscored that "quasi reality is being implemented in Kosovo" without support of international law and against the will of the Kosovo Serbs.

The SNV also evaluated that such activities are against UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and that persistence of Kosovo institutions to include justice from the Serb communities into the judicial system of Kosovo at any cost is not in keeping with the statement of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the six points under which justice is in the competency of EULEX.

"Today, when the international Day of Human Rights is being marked, the SNV would like to remind the international community that the Serbs in the province are absolutely deprived of their rights in nearly all domains," the SNV said in the statement.
