We have held and we still hold today that the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo has had an extremely negative influence on the regional and international security," Medvedev said on Wednesday in Moscow, as he signed with Serbian President Boris Tadić an umbrella energy agreement.
According to him, the Kosovo precedent, as well as the conflict in the Caucasus and the measures Russia had undertaken to protect international law, are pushing to the fore the issue of a possible new, special arrangement on global European security.
Tadic thanked Russia for its support over all the principled questions of international policy that Serbia has taken part in.
"Serbia has a principled partner in Russia when it comes to Kosovo," the Serbian president said.
