Bogdanovic: Kosovo Serb judges will not be working in line with Kosovo laws

Minister for Kosovo Goran Bogdanovic said that the UN plan envisages that Serbian judges in Kosovo should not be working in line with Kosovo laws, but in line with those adopted until 1989 and in line with UNMIK provisions.

Judges in the District Court in Kosovska Mitrovica  and in other Serb regions will be appointed by a UN representative in Kosovo, with the consent of Belgrade, Bogdanovic said.

He reiterated that Serb members of the Kosovo Police Service find it acceptable to be under EULEX command only and not under Pristina command.

Therefore Belgrade insisted on six items, a command chain and the opening of new police stations in Serb regions.

The UN SC has decided that EULEX and not UNMIK should command the police and that a representative of the Serb community should be appointed deputy commissioner of the police, Bogdanovic said.
