"With such a verdict, which is not binding but has huge moral and political weight in international relations, Serbia will forever shut off any pressure on our country that we should under any circumstances give up on the struggle for the preservation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity," Jeremic said, speaking for Belgrade-based TV Pink.

Once the process before the ICJ begins, Serbia will be in a far easier position concerning the pressures in connection with Kosovoa, he said.

Serbia is aware that "already in the first few months of 2009, there will be pressure on a number of countries to recognize Kosovo," Jeremic said.

"We are extremely active, there is no rest at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, we are fighting to stop that pressure and the number of recognitions and I trust we will be successful," the Serbian foreign minister said.
