The new security forces, envisaged by Martti Ahtisaari's controversial plan, would consist if 2,5000 active members and 800 reservists carrying small arms, which Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu hopes will make the "foundation of a future army of Kosovo."
The campaign for recruiting members will be opened for all Kosovo inhabitants as of Tuesday and will initially run until Feb 14.
The KSF commander will be former commander of the Kosovo protection Corps Sulejman Seljimi.
The units will be equipped with small arms, and their first task will be to take part in crisis situations and civil protection.
The new KSF members will obtain uniforms from the United States, vehicles from Germany and the training will be carried out by Great Britain. The training course will begin in Vucitrn on February 2.
The creation of KSF is strongly disputed by Belgrade and the Kosovo Serbs.
