The station should enable better and safer supply of electricity to northern Kosovo.
Energy Minister Petar Skundric opened the 35 kW station that will offer a permanent supply of electricity to 10,000 residents in those two municipalities.
It constitutes the most significant project that the Elektrokosmet public company has implemented in the last 30 years in northern Kosovo. All EUR 1.3mn invested in the facility came from the Serbian state electricity supplier, Elektroprivreda.
Construction of the so-called Little Zvecan station, which began last April, will increase electricity supply to the north of the province by one-third.
The power line linking it with the Valac station is over 4km long and fully ensures reserve supply of the Mitrovica 1 station that serves Kosovska Mitrovica
