As of October 2008, an additional 18 companies have been sold for 10.5 million euros, the daily said.
According to Politika, the land registers and other documents of the Republic of Serbia and the former Yugoslavia show that 58.79 percent of the territory is in Serb ownership, and that 43 percent of these assets are owned by the state, the public and the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC), while the remaining 15 percent are in private hands.
According to a decree issued in 1999, UNMIK has authorized itself to manage the state and publicly owned assets, and on the basis of the body's pillar structure, the fourth pillar of UNMIK - the EU pillar realized the process of the companies' privatisation via the Kosovo Trust Agency (KPA), which UNMIK founded in 2002.
