Biden: KFOR to remain in Kosovo

American Vice President Joseph Biden said at the NATO HQ that there will be no withdrawal of KFOR troops in Kosovo in order to help U.S. forces in Afghanistan.

"I do not think that we have to pull out troops or reach any conclusions regarding Afghanistan, based on the progress or lack of progress in Kosovo," Biden said after a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer and the NATO Council on Tuesday.

Asked by journalists if there is a plan to move KFOR troops from Kosovo in order to help NATO forces in Afghanistan, he said that "there is a lot that needs to be done in Kosovo that has yet to be done".

"It is the responsibility of the European Union and European community firstly to continue to be dedicated to the promise that they made," Biden said.

The Vice President added that "there is no trade off between what we are occupied with in Kosovo" and what must be done in Afghanistan.
