Montenegrin president: We recognized Kosovo because of EU and NATO membership
Montenegrin President Filip Vujanovic said in an interview with the Serbian agency Tanjug that Podgorica recognized Kosovo's secession in order to avoid hurdles towards EU and NATO membership.

‘It has become certain that Montenegro shall suffer serious damage in its integration assessments should it not do so', Vujanovic said.
‘It was clear that Montenegro cannot have good integration pace, apply for the EU and have good communication with the NATO if it does not follow the policy of the majority of countries that have recognized Kosovo independence', the Montenegrin president said.
