On its site the BBC states that the prisoner, an ethnic Albanian, agreed to speak out on condition of anonymity.

He recalled how Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) paramilitaries would enter the makeshift cells in groups of five or six to question prisoners.

The witness said that the victims had belonged to different ethnic groups, and that knives, pistols and automatic weapons had been used during the questioning.

According to the BBC's sources, at least 18 people were killed in that camp.

The BBC adds that the 2,000 missing persons from before and after the conflict include Serbs, Albanians and Roma. The search for them goes on.

The broadcaster states that Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci has rejected the accusations, stating that he is aware that certain individuals "abused KLA uniforms," but that the KLA distanced itself from such acts.
