EULEX police use tear gas against Serbs once again

Eulex police used tear gas on Tuesday against Serbs protesting in northern Kosovska Mitrovica against the reconstruction of Albanian houses without prior agreement.

Protesting Serbs broke through the Kosovo Police Service cordon somewhat before and pushed it in the direction of the so-called yellow line which separates the Serbs and Albanians in that settlement.

This was followed by a reaction of the EULEX police, which used tear gas to prevent the Serbs from reaching the yellow line.

No casualties have been reported.

The Serbs in Brdjani have been protesting for 11 days now, demanding that the rebuilding of Albanian houses in that settlement be stopped.

They demand reciprocity in respect of return, i.e. that conditions be provided for the return of all Serbs.

On Monday, a protester was hit in the head by a tear gas cartridge fired by the EULEX police.

Eulex had also used shock bombs against the Serbs.
