Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu is expected to decide the date of this year's vote by the middle of this week, following consultations with local political organisations.

In Belgrade, State Secretary in Serbia's Kosovo and Metohija Ministry Zvonimir Stevic said that the local elections in the province, to be held in the fall, and the possible Serb participation, are issues that the Serbian government should consider in order to adopt an official position on Serb participation in these elections.

Stevic said that the Kosovo Serbs have already chosen their local leaderships at the Serb elections held in Kosovo on May 11, 2008, underscoring that the implementation of decentralization according to Martti Ahtisaari's plan is unacceptable.

He set out that his ministry urges and insists on the implementation of the six-point plan that was agreed with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon.
