Harland: No plan for Kosovo will be realized completely

Not a single plan for Kosovo will be completely realized, and no general agreement will be reached on Kosovo status in the near future, claims Director of the Europe and Latin America Division at the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations David Harland.

Reminding  of  the words of US Vice President Joseph Biden that all the parties involved will simply have to agree that they do not agree, and that after that they will have to seek practical ways to resolve problems in the reality, Harland said in an interview for the Belgrade daily Borba, published on Monday, that one needed pragmatism for something like that.

"The (Martti) Ahtisaari plan will be partially implied in the settlements with the ethnic Albanians as the majority", he said.

"Many Serbs do not accept this plan, and we see that it is not easy to impose it on them", Harland added.

"This creates the need for practical arrangements which will make it possible for all to live a more peaceful and better organized life, but which will not be aimed at the resolution of vital political issues", the US official said.
