At a news conference after the government's session, Serbian Minister of Human and Minority Rights Svetozar Ciplic stated that the government has considered the current problems in Kosovo and concluded that the return of Serb police officers to Kosovo Police Service (KPS) was carried out in accordance with the implementation of the Six-point Agreement, which is in compliance with the Resolution 1244 and the policy of the status neutrality of the accountable international factors.
Ciplic pointed out that the Serbian government expects that, in the areas south of Ibar River, the return of Serbs to KPS will contribute to the elevation of the level of security and establishment of the rule of law within the frame of the Resolution 1244.
He stressed that the Serbian government believes that the return of Serb officers to KPS represents the return to the situation before Kosovo's unilateral proclamation of independence.
A total of 318 Serb police officers have rejoined the Kosovo police, the media in Pristina reported on Thursday, noting that the policemen had already assumed their duties.
The Serb members of the Kosovo police have taken over their equipment, weaponry and badges.
The suspended Serb policemen - 325 of them - were on paid leave because they refused to be under the command of the Kosovo police after Pristina's unilateral proclamation of independence.
