Magic was found immobile on the ground in his plum orchard, lying in a "big pool of blood".

Vuillagers called for help, with KFOR troops arriving first at the scene to help the victim. After that, members of the Kosovo police, KPS, and an ambulance also arrived.

Magic, who witnesses said had a large wound in his head, was taken to hospital in the town of Pec.

Kosovo police spokesman in Pec Avni Donbalaj confimed that the returnee was injured, most likely when he received a blow to the head, inflicted with a blunt object.

Following the attack, the situation in the village in Grabac has deteriorated and villagers are starting to leave in fear for their safety, Radio Gorazdevac said Thursday.

KFOR withdrew its checkpoints from Grabac three weeks ago, the radio said.
