Montenegrin Foreign Minister Milan Rocen says that Podgorica's European integration has accelerated since the recognition of Kosovo's unilateral independence.

"Montenegro has proven itself a credible international legal subject that takes decisions in line with its national interests, bearing in mind real political processes," said the minister, adding that time would show that the government had been right to recognize Kosovo and that the benefits would soon be seen.

New Serb Democracy MP Goran Danilovic said that he was extremely unsatisfied with Roćen's reply and that that decision would be a stain for generations to come.

Rocen and other Montenegrin officials have said in the past that they were told by officials in Washington and Brussels to recognize Kosovo if they wanted to speed up European integrations.
