Municipal President Zvonko Mihajlovic said that local assembly officials will agree on the further steps they will be taking in order to solve the problem.
Mihajlovic said that Serbs are ready to pay the Kosovo Electric Corporation (KEK) the installment of EUR 26 per household, but they will not hand over control of a substation, which was a new condition presented to the local officials on Friday.
The substation belongs to the Serbian state power company EPS.
There are some 12,000 Serbs and 3,500 Albanians living in Strpce. Protests were organized several times regarding the electricity problems, but KEK did not turn on the power, stating that the company demands that electricity bills must be paid regularly.
