ICJ public hearings on Kosovo scheduled for December 1
Public hearings about the legitimacy of Kosovo's unilateral declaration The court has announced that the public debate, set to last for several days, will enable interested UN member-countries, as well as representatives of Kosovo's government, to present their positions on this issue.

The ICJ was asked whether the declaration by Kosovo's provisional government took place in accordance with international law.
Aside from the declaration's authors, a total of 36 UN member states filed written statements about the case.
Kosovo, the UN and its member states have until September 15 to indicate whether they wish to participate in the hearings, during which, the court said, all parties would be entitled to deliver oral statements.
