Moscow "very concerned" by Tirana's statement on "unification of all Albanians"

Moscow is "very concerned" over the recent statement of Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha on the need of uniting all Albanians in the Balkans, Russian Foreign Minsiter Sergey Lavrov said in Moscow.

While assessing that this statement is aimed at causing reactions of the West, Lavrov has pointed that so far Russia has not heard anybody in the EU or NATO commenting on that, so he hopes that it means there are consultation going on with the Albanian leadership on the issue, in Brussels and leading European capitals.

On the same day, Kosovo Albanian Prime Minister Hashim Thaqi awarded Albania's Berisha a "gold medal" for his contribution to the province's unilateral secession from Serbia.
