Serbia to open ICJ hearing on Kosovo on December 1

The International Court of Justice has scheduled Serbia to speak first at nine days of hearings in December into the legality of Kosovo's independence, starting from December 1.

The World Court announced Friday that 30 states and the declaration's authors - meaning the Kosovo government - will speak at the hearings. The court will take months to deliver its nonbinding opinion.

Belgrade and Pristina will  will each have three hours to present their arguments in the case. While not binding, the ICJ decision may have a significant impact on further state recognitions of Kosovo.

A total of 30 states are participating in the proceedings.

The hearing session is the last chance to present arguments before the15 member judicial panel deliberates.
