Tadic expects Hungary to rescind Kosovo recognition

Serbian President Boris Tadic said in Budapest that he expected Hungary to rescind its recognition of Kosovo if the International Court of Justice rules that the ethnic Albanian secession was illegal.

"We will await the decision of the International Court of Justice [ICJ] in The Hague, and when it is given, we will be ready to negotiate with [ethnic] Albanian leaders in Pristina regarding an eventual compromise," Tadic stated.

"It is crystal clear to us that ethnically motivated secessions go against international law. If not, separatist movements such as this would appear all over the world," Tadic said.

"If the court passes the decision we expect, the only option will be for some countries to rescind their recognition of Kosovo, and I hope that our Hungarian friends will do so as well," he said.
