Kosovo Albanians award "Golden medal of independence" to former deputy UN mediator Rohan
The Kosovo Albanian authorities in Pristina have awarded former deputy UN mediator on Kosovo status, Austrian Albert Rohan, the "Golden medal of independence" for his contribution to the their unilateral declaration of independence.

Rohan, who was supposed to be a neutral UN mediator, had turned into one of the chief lobbyists in favor of Kosovo's secession, together with his boss, Martti Ahtisaari.
Following the award ceremony in Pristina, Rohan conceded that Kosovo will "become a member of the UN only when Serbia accepts its independence".
Otherwise, he said, Russia will always put a veto.
