UNMIK to stay in Kosovo for indefinite period of time

The head of the UNMIK in Kosovo Lamberto Zannier said the UN mission will continue its activity in Kosovo under the Resolution 1244 and will remain neutrality towards the declared independence of the country.

In an interview to Kosovo media Zannier pointed that according to this document the UNMIK office in North Kosovo will not be closed for indefinite period of time until along resolution, acceptable for all communities, is found. According to him "there is a potential for instability" in Kosovo. The key to progress is ethnical reconciliation and introduction of multi-ethnical institutions and thus the presence of the UNMIK is necessary.
