Tadic expressed his gratitude for Egypt's decision not to recognize the unilateral independence declaration made by Kosovo's Albanians two years ago.
"We very much appreciate Egypt's firm position in defending the principles of international law, as well as their participation in the process of determining the legality of the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo and Metohija," said Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic who also met with Gheit.
In a gathering at the National Theater in Belgrade ahead of Statehood Day of Serbia, Cvetkovic stressed that Serbia is solving the issue of Kosovo and Metohija.
"We are solving the issue of Kosovo and Metohija - which is not only our most important and most sensitive issue, but also that of regional and European security - with a firm dedication to defend our legitimate rights, in our own territory, in line with international law, using peaceful means, patiently, and persistently," said Cvetkovic to top officials, as well as diplomatic envoys and other guests.
