Czech Foreign Minister: "No need for ambassador in Pristina"
Czech Foreign Minister Jan Kohout said that there is no need for the Czech Republic to establish diplomatic relations with Kosovo.

He said that the "act of recognizing Kosovo's independence took place," and that "a diplomatic mission does not always have to be lead in the ranks of an ambassador."
"I think that our approach on both sides on the level of mission chiefs is optimal, it works for us and there is no need to change that," Kohout said.
He said that the decision to recognize Kosovo's independence was not easy for anyone in the Czech Republic, but that "after long deliberation and serious decisions, the stance finally overbalanced."
He said that it is most important that Prague was able to separate bilateral relations with Serbia from the Kosovo question.
Prague recognized Kosovo's unilateral independence proclamation on May 21, 2008.
