ICJ statement on Kosovo independence expected by the end of the year

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) could give its opinion on the legality of Kosovo's independence in November, Serbian daily Politika writes.

The daily's diplomatic sources in Brussels say that the decision will be postponed to a later date because the international community expects Serbia to arrest and extradite former leader of Bosnia Serbs Ratko Mladic first.

According to Politika, his arrest could affect Serbia's position.

Court officials said that a date for the decision is not known and that all reports on a known date are pure speculation.

Hearings at The Hague-based ICJ were held in December.
